High School Abroad in Italy:  Overview

Although Italy is not much bigger than Arizona, there are a lot of great cities like Milan, Venice, Florence and of course Rome.  Imagine yourself exploring the Italian countryside during a school filed trip or meeting up with friends after a day of classes to share a real pizza and gelato.  Did you know, pizza was invented in Naples, Italy around 1860?  One of many things you’ll learn about this culture while studying abroad.

Whether your placed in a small town outside Rome, or along the Mediterranean sea, you’ll explore a rich history both in class and through your own adventures.  And, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to advance your Italian proficiency through conversations with new friends, possibly the gelato shop owner and with your host family.

Quick Facts:
  • All students participate in a pre-departure orientation with Pan Atlantic staff
  • Host family accommodation – become part of an Italian family!
  • Students must be 15-18 years old upon arrival to program
  • No language requirement; beginners are welcome although some knowledge of Italian is helpful
  • Program start dates available in spring or fall
  • School year:  September to June
