Visas & AdmissionAs a Department of State designated sponsor of secondary school programs, Pan Atlantic Foundation provides each student with all necessary documentation and visas. There is one form requiring a signature from a school, and any accredited school is authorized to welcome a J1 exchange student. This is different from the F1 visa program where the school must be a certified sponsor.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my school is eligible to receive a Pan Atlantic Exchange student?
All accredited public high schools in the USA are eligible to welcome an exchange student with a J1 visa, which is the visa held by all Pan Atlantic high school students.
Do Pan Atlantic Students speak English?
All Pan Atlantic students undergo regulatory screening to ensure their language ability will enable them to successfully engage in an exchange program, both academically and socially. We understand the challenges a student would face if they arrived unable to communicate well with their teachers, peers, and host family, so we strive to never put a student in that situation.
Where will our school's exchange student live?
An area representative from Pan Atlantic will match your student with a local host family that they find within the community.
Are host families compensated?
Per the Department of State regulations, host families must participate on a volunteer basis only.
Who is responsible for the student while they are on program?
The area representative near your school is responsible for helping your exchange student navigate all aspects of their experience with their host family, school, and community.
What if there is a student emergency?
In addition to the area representative, Pan Atlantic has 24/7 emergency support for any student issues that may arise after normal business hours.
